Here I am eating my salsa right out of the food processor. This is what I guarantee that you'll be doing once you make this delicious homemade salsa.
These are the essential ingredients you need: two cans of diced tomatoes, two cans of diced green chiles, a lime, kosher salt, a bunch of cilantro, and you will also want an onion and possibly a jalapeno.
Cut the long stems off your cilantro - you will be able to just throw in the rest. This is the easiest recipe in the world. You'll also want to dice up an onion.
Throw into your food processor both cans of diced tomatoes and both cans of diced green chiles. Then top if off with all your cilantro. I pressed lots of the cilantro down closer to the blade so it would get cut up well.
Now add the juice of one whole lime. This gives it a nice twang. Also toss in some kosher salt - about 1 1/2 teaspoons.
At this point I tasted it and decided it needed some more flavor, so I added a diced onion. It might even taste better with another half of an onion. Onion really makes it taste like salsa instead of just tomatoes. If you want some heat, add in a jalapeno. I would have, but at this point I was out. Now pulse your salsa until it reaches your desired smoothness.
Now open your bag of chips early just so you can taste the salsa. Salsa tastes pretty horrible with just a spoon. I tried it.
I recommend stashing it away in some Tupperware in the fridge for a few hours. This way all of the flavors blend together and it tastes even better.
Now just take it out of your Tupperware and serve it in a decent looking bowl so people still respect you. And then when we have way too much extra after you party, bring the rest to your friend's party three days later. Or maybe that's just me.
(Very Easy) Salsa
2 cans (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
2 cans (4 oz) diced green chiles
1 bunch cilantro
1 lime
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 onion, diced
1 jalapeno, diced (seeds and ribs removed, unless you like it really spicy)
Add 2 cans diced tomatoes, 2 cans diced green chiles, 1 bunch cilantro (with thick stems removed), the juice of one lime, 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt, 1 diced onion, and optionally 1 diced jalapeno to a food processor. Pulse to combine ingredients and to reach desired smoothness. Allow flavors to combine in the fridge for a few hours before serving.
