John, Maddie, and I went to a cute town called Capitola yesterday, which is just South of Santa Cruz. If you aren't from California this might mean nothing to you, as it did to me just a few months ago. Someone suggested we go as an alternative to Santa Cruz, which we found a little too cheesy and crazy-people filled for our taste.
This is the Capitola Museum. Clearly not cheesy. But hilariously small. Probably the size of a kitchen.
Here was the beach. Notice all the people wearing shirts. Not enough people wearing shirts honestly - are they nuts? Beaches are so cold out here. I always wear jeans.
Here was the cute little place we had lunch. I had huevos rancheros for the first time. Hola, huevos rancheros. Nice to meet you. It was awesome and I don't know why I waited so long. I love Mexican food and I love eggs, so the combination is perfect!
John, Maddie's leash, and Maddie's tail wagging furiously as she tries to get to the Pomeranian at the next door table.
This is what the coast looks like when there isn't a beach. Not exactly people-friendly. Not sure what those two guys in the picture are doing.
I took this picture of Capitola while waiting for 15 minutes while John got coffee. Apparently people move on island time in Capitola even though it is not an island by any means.
Luckily, I had someone to keep me company. People were going crazy over Maddie today. Everywhere we go people either say under their breaths how cute she is, comment on how she's a Dalmatian, or openly come up to us, say how cute she is, and pet her. I have decided this must be what it is like to be a celebrity. Maddie is our own little Angelina Jolie.
We drove north a bit (okay at this point we're officially in Santa Cruz, I'll be honest) to go to this beach that allows dogs after 4 PM. The dogs were going crazy chasing each other and running in the sand. It was adorable.
Plus the beach was beautiful on it's own. Up there, that little lighthouse is also a surfing museum.
Capitola vacationers take note, this is the type of attire required to keep warm on the beach here.
And here's our little Angelina Jolie crashing on the drive home. All that attention can be rough on a girl.
Nothing like a romp on the beach to tire a gal out!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was reading this post, Justin was looking over my shoulder and exclaim "They have a dalmation!" haha. That Maddie sure is popular.
ReplyDeleteSee! I wasn't kidding about all the attention she gets. Another favorite comment is "Where are the other 100 Dalmatians?"
