May 5th
In case you are like me and are too old to grace Mexican restaurants on Cinco De Mayo (the crowds - ugh), I encourage you to make your own festive meal at home. No Cinco De Mayo is complete without chips and salsa. Heirloom tomato salsa and tomatillo salsa are two of my favorites. Since Cinco De Mayo falls on a work day this year, why not try some rich slow-cooked meat like pulled pork stew or chicken chipotle tacos? It's time to break out that rusty Spanish you learned in high school (and in college too if you didn't study for those darn SAT2s)(ahem) and eat a lovely cena with your familia.
